Have A Suggestion?
Do you have an idea or a suggestion? The Friends want to know!
Thanks to all of you who came and bought books during our Buck-a-Bag Sale. It was a real success, and we will certainly do it again. The library has been sorting through their books and has given us a great selection of large print books. Come in and look through the many titles.
Our Animal Shelter:
Caring for Strays
Helping Pets Find Homes
Tuesday, Oct. 6, 3:30 p.m.
All ages welcome.
Children must be with a parent or caregiver.
The library will host our local animal shelter to learn more about what they do for lost, abandoned or abused animals as well as finding out about adopting a pet. A fun storytime will be part of the program, featuring Garth Stein's story, "Enzo Races in the Rain". This event is part of One Book, One San Joaquin (all are encouraged to read the adult-level novel, "The Art of Racing in the Rain"). Mr. Stein's best-selling book features Enzo, a dog who reveals his world-view with sensitivity and wisdom.
MAIN STREET DAYS
Our big parking lot sale is coming up on October 17th during Main Street Days. Be sure to come by and stock up on all sorts of books for $5.00 a bag.

It's Great to Have Friends
Everywhere you turn, there is news about the budget challenges facing the Stockton San Joaquin Library system which includes the Ripon Memorial Library. Articles have been written that include the possibility of a reduction in service hours, privatizing and layoffs.
While there is much uncertainty, the Friends continue to support, raise funds and advocate for the Ripon Memorial Library. Since the 1970's, the Friends have carried out our mission statement which includes year round support for the Ripon Memorial Library. While the economy has dealt community libraries a tough hand, Friends groups have continued to step up and provide help when it is needed the most. As an advisory group, the Ripon Friends continues to ensure that our work does not stop and are continuing to provide funding for programs, materials and educational resources that are requested from the Ripon community. Our commitment to our mission and to the Ripon community is the driving force behind our keep moving forward efforts. Changes are sure to come but the Friends are committed to providing all that the community has come to expect as our members have empowered us to do.
Join us by continuing to support the Friends through your generous donations, Friends Book Sale purchases, Save Mart S.H.A.R.E.S. card use and ongoing used book donations.
